Hat/tip to Faith for this excellent video taken June 19th at the Lincoln/ Douglas illegal immigration debate on the east side Capital prior to the Tea Party Patriot rally to Audit the IRS.
The NIPats group visited the morning session of this rally. What made it a Lincoln/ Douglas style of rally? Throughout the day between speakers citizens and media were allowed to ask questions of the speakers. This was truly a refreshing way to have access to our elected officials, hat/tip also to Representative Steve King, R-Ia. for hosting this event.
Very unlike the town hall meetings by Pete Visclosky, which demands citizens fill out cards prior to the event and then hand picks which ones he will answer.
After listening to Representative Bachmann, you know time is of the essence .. CALL YOUR SENATORS NOW !
Any poll is only as good and accurate as the questions they ask. The old computer saying GIGO (standing for: garbage in, garbage out) from any objective view would fit the poll done by Harper Polling. Without looking at the validity of the primary questions Harper asked in their immigration poll, The Times runs a news story headlined “Poll finds most Hoosiers support Senate Immigration plan.”
Lets look at the questions and dissect them as any good American should do:
The bill would secure our borders, block employers from hiring undocumented immigrants, and make sure that undocumented immigrants already in the U.S. with no criminal record
register for legal status. If a long list of requirements is met over more than a decade, it provides eligibility for a path to citizenship. Would you support or oppose this proposal?
Four Northern Indiana Patriots’ made the 12 hour trip to Washington DC and attended the Tea Party Patriots rally along with approximately 12,000 other patriots. The rally centered on the IRS targeting of groups solely on the basis of their belief in a Constitutional government. The speakers for the three hour plus rally varied from elected officials who expressed outrage to Glenn Beck to individual citizens who faced harassment not only from the IRS but also government groups such as the FBI, Homeland Security and OSHA. From Tea Party Patriots, why the current Amnesty bill is bad legislation and what should be done:
I. THE PROCESS IS BROKEN
- Security First: The first step for any immigration legislation under consideration MUST be national security. We have heard over and over that Congress is going to get serious about securing the border and that must be a top priority for any immigration legislation. We cannot afford another broken promise on border security.
- Too Rushed: Congress needs more time to read and review the bill. We also need more hearings and opportunities for feedback to improve the current legislation. We need more than empty promises and superficial explanation from the Senate sponsors.
On Tuesday May 21, patriots from across the area participated in the nationwide protest of the IRS. The individuals at the protest took two hours out of their day to have their voices heard. Of the approximate 55 patriots who were at the Merrillville office some used vacation time in order to make the protest, others came after working a 12 hour shift, a couple stopped in briefly during their lunch hour and others rescheduled life events all because each one understood how the IRS actions threatened every Americans first amendment rights.
Multiple Your Voice
Often individuals believe that their voice is unheard amid the constant static heard in Washington or at the local level with elected officials. Yet the calls you make do count and they can sway a politician who is soft on an issue. Each politician uses their own formula to gauge constituent calls and determine the “pulse” of the voters in their elected areas.
The Tea Party Patriots website has crashed, organizers say, due to the high volume of interest in the nationwide protests planned for over 100 Internal Revenue Offices across the nation.
The website crashed after Rush Limbaugh highlighted the grassroots organization as a place to get information about the protests.
