Some may recall the spontaneous creation of the Tea Party Patriots in 2009. The years that followed can be remembered by the numerous public demonstrations held across the nation with citizens protesting issues such as The Affordable Healthcare Act (Obamacare), the stimulus bill and assembling to promote a constitutionally limited government.
Some have inferred that the Tea Party has not been active lately. This is far from true and may be the result of their not seeing as many protests or rallies as they saw in years past.
The fact is that the Tea Party is more active than ever. Growing from the beginnings in 2009, the Tea Party has developed into a very active grassroots organization.
Northern Indiana Patriots (NIPats) has evolved and moved in stride with the Tea Party Patriots (TPP) group (TeaPartyPatriots.org). Our protest outside of the IRS facility last week was a much needed action. In turn, as we have promoted during the past years, we ask that you also turn your attention to the active campaigns centered around contacting your representatives, staying informed on issues and promoting citizens to become involved.
The protests are only one aspect of implementing the restoration of constitutional principles. Protests can be energizing for the individual as they meet other like minded people who cherish this country and the foundation on which she was built. Yet the true impact, where action shows demonstrable results, comes from activities which preformed alone is amplified through the group’s efforts. For example, a year ago Northern Indian Patriots made a call out for volunteers to head up to Wisconsin to canvas residents of how the recall effort was being manipulated for political gain. Never was the recall option in Wisconsin supposed to be about policy decisions made at the state level, rather it was created to deal with malfeasance of elected officials. NIPats was in Wisconsin, as were numerous patriots from around the nation. This call to action was organized and sponsored by our affiliate national group Tea Party Patriots and we helped sway the vote away from the attempted power grab.
In order to make a difference, we as citizens and patriots must become informed on topics beyond casual talking points, for when we challenge elected officials on policy we have to know the ins and outs of an issue. NIPats demonstrated this during the April 6th town hall meeting held in Hobart with state officials: Senator Rogers, Representatives’ Brown and VanDenburgh where one patriot challenged these officials on their belief in the good of Common Core. Numerous statements by Senator Rogers were factually incorrect. Without a concrete understanding of the issue the patriot would not have been able to refute the Senator’s misinformation. Individuals who attended this town hall were able to come away with a greater understanding of the threat to education Common Core presents. To gain additional knowledge on Common core visit NIPats previous posts here and here.
Over the last couple of years TPP has made available numerous tele-town hall meetings on topics ranging from restoring a constitutional government to issues such as the current amnesty bill set to hit the Senate floor. NIPats has always encouraged patriots to participate and sign up for the free and informational tele-town hall meetings.
NIPats was extensively involved with the local True the Vote effort, spending hundreds of hours reviewing voter rolls to help ensure voter integrity in the region. True the Vote has been a targeted of IRS harassment and other government agencies, including the FBI.
It is understood that some may interpret the move from rallies to legislative actions as a lack of activity on the part of the Tea Party. It should also be understood that the push for citizen involvement in legislation has and continues to directly affect the current path our nation takes. These actions multiplied through the actions of others help to make a difference.
So while a protest is a great way to express views, to be heard, we remain active 24/7/365 with a variety of means with which to accomplish change and channel energy into the most effective means for maintaining constitutional governance.
The IRS protest was a large success across the nation. TPP and NIPATS continue to encourage citizens to stay active throughout the year. Visit the websites listed below for updated information on how you can remain involved.
The Tea Party is not dead or ‘not active’; we have merely shifted methods for being heard and are amplifying the effect through calls for individual action.
Northern Indiana Patriots welcomes input regarding issues important to you. We welcome you to become active and to contact us with ideas or comments. This is your organization; we are a bottom up organization.
We look forward to hearing from you. We encourage other patriots to get involved and make a difference.
